Hotaru no Yu

Relax with a footbath in an area famous for its fireflies

Hotaru no Yu

Hotaru no Yu is a footbath located in Takara Ryuro-ko River Park along Prefectural Route 475 from Tochio Onsen to Shinhotaka. The footbath is open 24 hours a day, all year round.
In the summer, fireflies fly over the waterways and grasslands downstream from the Hotaru no Yu. The gathering of fireflies here has made this a very famous place to see them in Japan. At night, you can enjoy the precious experience of watching fireflies while enjoying the footbath.
The footbath is under a gazebo, so you can be protected on rainy and snowy days.
There is also a relatively large parking lot that can be used as a rest stop during the drive.
The park is easy to walk around and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
You can enjoy a relaxing stroll and a spectacular view of the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps), including Mt. Nishi-hotaka.
